He made the remarks at a joint press conference with visiting Ghanaian counterpart John Dramani Mahama on Sunday.
During the meeting with Ghanaian president, Rouhani said, the two sides discussed the expansion of economic, cultural, scientific and social cooperation, saying that the two countries enjoy a lot of opportunities and capacities to expand all-out ties.
“There are considerable capacities in the areas of oil, gas, petrochemicals, technical service and agriculture that the two can use for further cooperation,” said Rouhani.
Rouhani pointed to the international and regional cooperation in tackling terrorism and extremism, among the issues he discussed with Ghanaian president.
He underlined the need to find a solution to the Palestine issue and displacement of Palestinians in the past seven decades.
He also expressed hope that the mutual agreements inked in 2014 could be executed in near future.
Africa has a special position in Iran's foreign policy, Rouhani said, adding that Iran attaches great importance to its ties with friendly countries and Africa, Ghana in particular.
Ghana President John Dramani Mahama, for his part, noted that Iran and President Rouhani are pioneers of fighting violence, extremism and terrorism.
Mahama congratulated Iran on the 37th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the recent implementation of JCPOA, saying that his country has always praised the Islamic Republic for its capacity to use dialogue and interaction for promotion of peace and stability in the region and world.
Underlining that African continent suffers terrorism issues in Libya, Morocco and other regions, he called for cooperation in fighting terrorism.
He called Iran a close friend for Africa and a supporter of freedom-seeking movements against apartheid.
Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, John Dramani Mahama arrived in Tehran on Saturday night at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, the first visit by a Ghanaian president to Iran in 37 years.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani officially welcomed his counterpart at Tehran Mehrabad Airport along with Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati who chairs the Iranian side of Iran-Ghana joint commission.
Rouhani and Mahama, who is heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, began their discussions immediately after the welcoming ceremony.
During the meeting, the two sides signed two memoranda of understanding, one between Iran's Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and his Ghanaian counterpart Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey and the other between head of Iran's National Standards Organization Nayereh Pirouzbakht and his Ghanaian counterpart Hanna Tetteh to boost cooperation.
The Ghanaian president is scheduled to hold talks with top Iranian officials including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution as well as Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Sunday.
